Can I change the colour?+
Yes. Every mark can be recoloured, moved and resized until you export.
Does the tool highlight the text automatically?+
No. You drag the mark over the passage, like a highlighter pen on paper. That is why it also works on scanned pages with no recognisable text.
Is my file uploaded?+
No. The PDF is opened, marked up and exported in your browser and never leaves your device.
Will the recipient see the highlights?+
Yes, the same in every PDF program, because on export they become part of the page. That also means they cannot be hidden afterwards; keep the original.
Can I add comments too?+
Yes. With “Text” you put a note next to the passage, plus arrows, rectangles, checkmarks or freehand strokes.

Make the important parts stand out

The mark is dragged over the passage, not tied to the text. That has an advantage: it works on any page, including scanned documents and photos where a program recognises no text. Every mark can then be moved, resized or deleted, and undo works until you export.
Highlighting is not redaction
A highlight draws attention; it hides nothing. The “Cover up” tool also only places a box over the spot; the text below stays in the file. If details really must not be passed on, delete the whole page with “Organize pages” or share only the pages that are needed.
