How it works

  1. 01Add your cover letter and CV (PDF or Word) plus certificates and references (PDF, scan or photo).
  2. 02Set the order: usually cover letter, CV, then certificates and references from newest to oldest.
  3. 03Merge, compress if needed, and send your application.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my cover letter from Word?

Yes. Word files are converted to PDF on our EU servers and inserted in their place. That costs one operation from your free monthly allowance; the file is deleted after 60 minutes at the latest.

How large can an application be?

The employer decides; many job portals state a limit in MB. If the file is too large, shrink it afterwards with “Compress PDF” – the “Balanced” level is usually enough.

Will certificates photographed with my phone look tidy?

With “Scan” they are straightened and shadows are evened out, almost as if they came from a scanner. With “Continue with”, the scan comes straight back to merging without uploading again.

Do my documents stay private?

PDFs and photos are combined in your browser and not uploaded. Only Word files go briefly to our EU servers for conversion.

Do I need an account?

No. Merging and downloading work without signing in. Tools that run in your browser are always free.

One file that is easy to read

Whoever reviews applications would rather not open eight attachments. An application as one PDF, with the cover letter at the front and the certificates at the back, looks organised and does not get lost in anyone's inbox. “Merge PDF” builds that file from everything you have: PDFs, Word documents and photos.

The usual order

The usual order is: cover letter, CV or résumé, then references, qualifications and certificates, newest first. A cover page is optional. Change the order at any time by dragging or with “Move up” and “Move down”; every file is listed with its name and page count so nothing gets mixed up.

Keep an eye on the size

Scanned certificates make an application large quickly. After merging you see the file size. If it is over a portal's limit, “Compress PDF” brings it down without making the text less sharp.

Check before you send

Finally, open the finished PDF once yourself: are the order and page count right, and is every page the right way up? Turn a page that is upside down with “Organize pages”.
